Whitfield Ointment is prescribed for fungal skin diseases generally known as ringworm (tinea). It is used to treat athlete's foot or tinea pedis, "jock itch" (tinea cruris) and a fungus infection of the entire body (tinea corporis), and a skin infection that causes yellow- or brown-colored skin eruptions (tinea versicolor). It is also prescribed for yeast infections of the skin caused by candida fungus (cutaneous candidiasis).
Whitfield Ointment is used for the treatment, prevention and relieves of yeast (fungus) infections of the vagina and treatment of vaginal candida (yeast) infections.
Whitfield Ointment is also used for the treatment, prevention and relieves the itching and burning symptoms that are sometimes present with yeast or fungus infections.
