Combigan® comes as eye drops in bottles containing 2.5 mL, 5 mL, 10 mL, or 15 mL of solution. The solution contains 0.2% brimonidine tartrate and 0.5% timolol. Nonmedicinal ingredients: 0.005% benzalkonium choride as a preservative; sodium phosphate, monobasic monohydrate; sodium phosphate, dibasic heptahydrate; purified water; hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide may be added to adjust pH (acidity).

COMBIGAN side effects that may occur include dry mouth; headache; itching, burning, stinging, redness, or dryness of the eye; blurred vision; feeling of something in the eye; or drowsiness. If COMBIGAN side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.

The usual dose is one drop in the morning and one drop in the evening (about 12 hours apart) in the affected eye(s). Do not let the tip of the bottle touch your eye or any other surface. If you use other eye drops as well, wait at least 10 minutes before using them.

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Then, go back to your usual schedule. Do not catch up on missed doses by using more than one drop at a time.

Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the one given here, do not change the way you are using the medication without consulting your doctor

has asthma or ever had asthma in the past

uncontrolled heart failure (heart cannot pump effectively)
cardiogenic shock (heart cannot provide enough oxygen to the body)
is taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), a type of antidepressant
is allergic to brimonidine tartrate, timolol maleate, or any other ingredients of the medication

Combigan is a combination eye drop containing brimonidine tartrate and timolol; Brimonidine tartrate is an alpha-2 selective adrenergic agonist for ophthalmic use and Timolol maleate is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agent. Combigan belongs to the group of an Antiglaucoma agent, ophthalmic drug, commonly used for the treatment and relieves of the symptoms or certain disorders of the eye as glaucoma. Combigan works by reducing the amount of fluid in the eye.
