Drug Overview
Renedil belongs to the family of drugs known as a calcium channel blocker drug and commonly used for the treatment and relieves of those patients who suffered to the problems of high blood pressure or hypertension. Renedil works by blocking certain channels in blood vessels that cause relaxation.
High blood pressure or hypertension means high pressure (tension) in the arteries. The arteries are the vessels that carry blood from the pumping heart to all of the tissues and organs of the body. High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure may also increase the risk of heart attacks. These problems may be less likely to occur if blood pressure is controlled.
Renedil is also more useful for those patients who suffered to the problems of Raynaud's disease, congestive heart failure and angina pectoris.
Renedil always takes under doctor’s guidance. Do not take more of it and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. The recommended doses of Renedil will be different for different patients, according to the requirements of each patient; you continue to take it for as long as your doctor prescribes, even if you do not feel an immediate benefit. If you can not tolerate the recommended dosage, your doctor can prescribe a dose that sufficient for you. Renedil is also available in generic form Felodipine. Renedil is being manufactured by Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals and available in 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg tablets. Renedil may also be used for relieve other conditions that determined by your doctor or consultant.
Effects - How it works in the body
Renedil belongs to the family of drugs known as a calcium channel blocker drug and commonly used for the treatment and relieves of those patients who suffered to the problems of high blood pressure or hypertension. Renedil works by blocking certain channels in blood vessels that cause relaxation. Actually Renedil works by slowing the movement of calcium through the muscle cells that are found in the walls of blood vessels. Renedil acts specifically on the muscle cells in the walls of small arteries or arterioles. Renedil slows calcium movement by blocking 'calcium channels' in these muscle cells. Calcium is needed by muscle cells in order for them to contract; therefore Renedil causes the muscle in the walls of the small arteries to relax. The relaxing and widening of the small arteries in the body decrease the resistance that the heart has to push against in order to pump the blood around the body. This reduces blood pressure. Therefore Renedil can be used to treat high blood pressure.
