Cyclogyl belongs to the family of drugs known as cycloplegics / mydriatics and ophthalmic medication commonly used for the treatment and relieves of the symptoms or certain disorders of the eye such as uveitis or posterior synechiae and diagnostic procedures. Cyclogyl works by blocking the receptors in the muscles of the eye (muscarinic receptors).

By blocking these receptors, Cyclogyl produces dilatation of the pupil (mydriasis) and prevents the eye from accommodating for near vision (cycloplegia). Cyclogyl is given as eye drops to dilate the pupil and relax the lens so that eye examinations can be carried out thoroughly. It is often used to aid eye examinations in young children and relax the muscles that inflame and over-contract in the eye in conditions such as uveitus.
